Recreate or Imitate | 52 Week Project | Week 37

I got to pick the theme for this week’s project and the theme is Recreate or Imitate. All of the pet photographers in the 52 Week Project are supposed to recreate a favorite piece of art or imitate the style of an artist.

I wanted to make a copy of this picture for a long time with Boo Radley. The original picture was of Andy Warhol and Jean Michel Basquiat, it was a promotional poster for a gallery showing they had together. Every time I thought about it I would laugh.

Then of course I thought I would do a couple of Warhol inspired images.

Have a great week!

Word | 52 Week Project | Week 36

Hi everyone,

The theme for this week’s 52 Week Project is Word. We are supposed to overlay text on an image. We can choose a quote, a word or a business slogan.

I love this quote. It’s a great reminder for me to look ahead, give it my best, and then give a little more. I don’t want to follow behind, I want to look out beyond the race and see the beauty, or the mess, with a vision in my head and the world at my feet instead of… well you know, looking at the rear of those in front of me.

Maybe I’ll print this poster size for my office.

Nighttime | 52 Week Project | Week 35

Hi everyone!

The theme for this week’s 52 Week Project is Nighttime.

I would guess that most pet photographers don’t shoot a lot of late nights. That’s fine by me, I like to photograph bands when I can and I also shoot photo booths for parties so nighttime dog shots aren’t a normal thing for me to do.

I just did a really simple shot of Boo using a street lamp for light, I would have loved to do more but my awesome husband/dog handler has been out of town this week so Boo was attached to me during the shoot. Lol, I’ll let you guess how well that went.

Have a great week everyone!

Deanna

Seniors | 52 Week Project | Week 34

Hi Everyone!

The theme this week for the 52 Week Project is senior dogs. I took photos of about 75 dogs, a pig, and a parrot this week between the Denver Pet Expo and the Tails and Ales fundraiser and shockingly there were a lot of puppies but not so many seniors.

But I did take photos of Cooper prepping for the Expo and he is a sweet old boy. He’s my lovely friends’ dog and they are kind enough to bring him over when I need a model. I’ve really taking a liking to this spry fellow and they have a dog sitter if they ever need one. Hint, hint, go away guys, I want to cuddle with the Coop.

Isn’t he dashing? Up next is About A Dog Photography, St. Cloud, Minnesota. Click through the links and see all the other sweet seniors until you get back to StinkDog Photos.

Have a great week everyone.

XO,

Deanna

Silhouette | 52 Week Project | Week 32

Happy Friday, everyone!

The theme this week is silhouette. I’ve been wanting to do this theme for a while but I have to say that I simply ran out of time for the shot I wanted this week. Maybe it wasn’t such a bad thing, I had to get really creative since it was Thursday at 9pm and I didn’t have the shot I wanted.

I set up a soft box behind Boo Radley and took a shot of my handsome dude but the ultra white background and Boo’s silhouette was too stark so I added a texture and a cool blue tint to make it look like a post card.

I’m pretty happy with the way it turned out although I wish my boy was smiling. In all fairness to Boo I was making an odd noise to get his attention and I think he was wondering just what in the world I was doing.
