Vivid | 52 Week Project | Week 32

Happy Friday!

Agh, nice to be back with the 52 Week Project. This week’s theme is vivid.

The definition of vivid: 1. strikingly bright or intense, as color, light, etc. (a vivid green), 2. full of life; lively; animated (a vivid personality), 3. presenting the appearance, freshness, spirit, etc., of life.

I normally don’t include the definitions for the theme in my 52 Week Project but this one so clearly fit Chloe on so many levels that I thought it would be nice.

Chloe the boxer has a few years on her. Her mom was told she would only live about 6 months when she adopted her and that was a few years ago. These days Chloe has good days and bad days, she’s lost her hearing and her mom said she sleeps a lot.

I wanted to take photos of her and wasn’t sure what to expect. Of course when I showed up I had a lot of yummy treats for her and she was happy for a little extra attention from a stranger with snacks.

Well, let me tell you, I wasn’t a stranger for long. Chloe would reach into my camera bag to help herself to treats and let me pet her and rub her ears. She’s such a sweet girl. Her mom kept telling me she never warms up to new people like this. I guess not all new people smell like turkey.

I wasn’t planning on taking photos of Chloe for the the project but when I saw her personality and the photos with her bright, smiling face I knew I had to.

Chloe is full of life, has a bright personality with an amazing spirit. She defines the word vivid.

Gardens | 52 Week Project | Week 24

Dog photography in Denver is nothing short of spectacular. We have so many beautiful parks and open spaces there is no shortage of beautiful landscape here.

Because we have such a beautiful natural landscape I don’t often photograph pets in their own homes. Most people want their photo sessions in the mountains or downtown. This week the theme is gardens for the 52 Week Project and I thought I had just the candidate for a photoshoot in a garden. Her dad wanted a session at their home in Denver and it was full of flowers but the session is a birthday present for his wife and I can’t show those photos until after her birthday!

Here is Boo Radley in our downtown Denver garden. I use the term garden loosely, it’s looking a little more like an abandoned cottage garden right now, I need to pull weeds and trim everything. Shooting with a Lensbaby seems like a great idea. A little blur to cover up the mess.

Here are photos of Boo Radley in our garden. The first photo is Boo sitting on our front porch. Notice he can’t be bothered to look at me, he needs to look down the street to see if there are any dogs outside.

Solitude | 52 Week Project | Week 21

Oh hi!

Sorry, we didn’t notice you were there. We were just sitting here quietly, alone with our thoughts.

Solitude is the theme for the 52 Week Project. A photo of Chance the dog sitting all by his lonesome seemed to be the perfect photo for this weeks project.

Of course normally I love color photos but I think the theme called for black and white.

Letters | 52 Week Project | Week 20

Happy Friday!

Letters or numbers are the theme for the 52 Week Project this week. Oddly enough I had bought these letters just a few days before the theme was announced. I thought it would be cute to take a photo of Boo peeking through the O’s.

Morning Has Broken | 52 Week Project | Week 18

Happy Friday!

The theme for the pet photographer’s 52 Week Project this week is Morning. I don’t have any problem getting up in the morning to take photos but that Boo Radley is very different from me.

Most days I’m up at 6:30 am. I wake up, go put food in Boo’s bowl and try to get him to go outside or go eat breakfast before I shower. Most mornings he can’t be bothered but, I still keep trying.

He typically wakes up around noon and stretches while he gets out of my bed with the most pleasant look on his face like he’s just had the most glorious rest of his lifetime. I try to let him outside again and he eats a few bites of food and if I don’t stand near his bowl he stops eating and goes to lay on the sofa. So, I stand there until he eats and then I let him outside. Finally.

Last weekend we all went to Estes Park and Boo pretty much kept his same routine  except this time I actually thought he was going to get up with me. You can see him look around and then…. nope, back down to finish his rest.

Morning is broken is more like it. 😉

Get up Boo Radley!
