52 Week Project: Week 13 – Re-shoot, Re-edit, Re-visit

Happy Friday!

The theme for the 52 week project this week is re-shoot, re-edit, re-visit. We are supposed to take a look back and change one of our photos from the project, we could edit it differently or just re-shoot it.

I knew which one I wanted to do right away, it’s the week we did Nighttime. It was a week my husband was out of town and I was trying to manage Boo Radley and a camera by myself outside. Oh, my boy is not interested in me outside, there are a million other smells, sounds, and beings he’d much rather pay attention to. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that easy when Jamie is with us. It’s just this way he’s not attached to me while I try to take the photo. We are still working on calming him outside and someday maybe I’ll get the shots I really want of him in the night. In the meantime this will do. Here’s my nervous boy with the twinkly lights of the Denver skyline behind him.

Have a great week everyone!

52 Week Project: Week 12 – Dramatic Light

Happy Friday!

It’s time for another 52 Week Project, the theme this week is Dramatic Light.

Sometimes what is set up for you is beautiful, no need to set up studio lights this week. Here’s Boo in the shadow looking through the front door with a lot of light pouring in.

I loved the red in the above pictures but it wasn’t as dramatic is this shot so I made it black and white.

52 Week Project: Week 11 – Circles

Happy Friday, everyone!

This week’s theme for the 52 Week Project is Circles. Kind of a perfect theme for us really, Boo Radley had us running in circles trying to keep up with him. There were so many people and so many dogs at this park he had a bit of a meltdown in about 6 minutes. It was a super quick session! My husband holding his leash and me trying to get him to look just once.

The blessing with having a dog that has so much anxiety outside is I understand when clients are worried their pet won’t sit still for a session. Boo never sits still outside and if I had to rely on him sitting in every photo I’d be in trouble!

Because of his anxiety, I’ve learned to pick locations with fewer people (except for this one, I swear!), keep it moving, and try to be more interesting than anything else outside even if that means making a fool of myself. Never easy, but always fun. And, to be honest, if he were sitting still and staring straight ahead in every photo, they wouldn’t be as interesting.
