52 Week Project: Week 39 – Depth of Field

Happy Friday!

The theme for this week’s 52 Week Project is depth of field.

I’ve been pretty busy this week so I’m keeping this really simple. I used a 50mm lens and just had Boo Radley sit in front of some ivy in our back yard. The only thing I did to change the depth of field was to change the aperture slightly.

Happy boy at f/1.2. A really nice shallow depth of field, I love how it makes Boo stand out from the background.

Grumpy pants at f/3.5. Is he grumpy because you can see the distracting ivy behind his head?

He’s not really grumpy, he’s just concentrating on the cheese in my hand.

52 Week Project: Week 38 – Sun/Lens Flare

Happy Friday!

The theme this week is Sun or Lens Flare.

We normally have 300 plus days of sunshine in Colorado but as you may have heard in the news we got a bit of rain this past week. I believe the weather channel called it a “biblical” amount. So it’s been pretty gray most of the week. In case you are wondering we were fortunate and didn’t have any problems with flooding, thank goodness.

There was a short break one day where the sun was out and I was able to capture this picture of a Red Tailed Hawk. The Hawk is sort of a mascot for the Rocky Mountain Raptor Program. Unfortunately, its injury prevents it from ever being released but it did spread its wings for a bit and enjoy a bath.

Up next is About A Dog Photography, St. Cloud, Minnesota. Don’t forget this is an international blog ring with really wonderful pet photographers so follow all the links until you get back to StinkDog Photos.

Have a great week!!

52 Week Project: Week 37 – Recreate or Imitate

I got to pick the theme for this week’s project and the theme is Recreate or Imitate. All of the pet photographers in the 52 Week Project are supposed to recreate a favorite piece of art or imitate the style of an artist.

I wanted to make a copy of this picture for a long time with Boo Radley. The original picture was of Andy Warhol and Jean Michel Basquiat, it was a promotional poster for a gallery showing they had together. Every time I thought about it I would laugh.

Then of course I thought I would do a couple of Warhol inspired images.

Check out what inspired Laura Mclean Photography, Sarnia, Ontario, and click through all the links until you get back to StinkDog Photos.

Have a great week!

52 Week Project: Week 36 – Word

Hi everyone,

The theme for this week’s 52 Week Project is Word. We are supposed to overlay text on an image. We can choose a quote, a word or a business slogan.

I love this quote. It’s a great reminder for me to look ahead, give it my best, and then give a little more. I don’t want to follow behind, I want to look out beyond the race and see the beauty, or the mess, with a vision in my head and the world at my feet instead of… well you know, looking at the rear of those in front of me.

Maybe I’ll print this poster size for my office.
